Here’s one for the numbers people…
First of all there are four complete units; 1198, 2311, 2315 and 2325. Technically,
if the TSO and buffet cars in the last two were to be swapped round you would
have 1537 and 2305. Once 1537 was retrofitted it could (really) be 7105.
Also, the four coaches from 1598 survive, two at Meldon, one at Snibston
and the other recently moved to the Mid Norfolk Rly.
As for loose coaches, the TSOs are way out in front, this is due to the
conversions from 4 to 3 CEPs that happened twice, as well as escapees from the
scrapyards Two TBCs survive, but no DMS’s following the cutting of the coach at
Coventry and at Ilford.
